Joining with Experience 

If you have some paddling experience and would like to skip the beginners course then we will arrange for you to be assessed. One of our coaches will review your skills and if they consider that you are at an appropriate standard, then you will be able to join immediately.

• The assessment is an informal session where the coach will paddle with you

• Sessions take place on our usual paddle days - Sundays from 9.30am - 12.30pm

• The assessment itself is free, you just pay for any kit that you hire - see prices below

What To Expect

You will be assessed on a variety of skills, and would be expected to display a good level of competency across the board - we're not looking for pro level paddling, but we need to know you will be safe on the water. At a basic level, you need to have had good experience paddling on moving water, with a spray deck. A full list of competencies and the sort of questions we might ask can be found here. If you are unfamiliar with these skills, joining the beginners course would be best. 

You will then pay your membership fee afterwards if your assessment is successful and you wish to join the club.

Equipment Hire

Equipment hire is only available to members.

Boat Hire £5.00 per session

Paddle, spray deck £0.50 per item

Buoyancy Aid, Helmet Free

N.B. Equipment hired for trips is charged in advance, and is payable for every day paddled on the trip.

To Renew Membership

We use Spond to administer club memberships: www.club.spond.com/landing/signup/hertscanoeclub/

Note you will need to enter a name, phone number and address of an emergency contact, and your Paddle UK membership number (if applicable). The committee will help any members who have difficulty using Spond.

For those who would like to join the club for the first time, please contact us on infohertscanoe@gmail.com before signing up via Spond.

Payment

After signing up using Spond, a link for online card payment will be sent by the committee.

Subscriptions are payable annually by 1st April. By 30th April any member who has not paid the fee will be deemed to have left the club.
